It’s time for bed! You’re ready to turn in for the night and your child tells you that they need a Valentine’s Day box by tomorrow. Now it’s crunch time. Luckily, there are many ways to use everyday household objects to create a cute Valentine’s Day box! Here are just a few ideas for your child’s Valentine’s Day box.

Boxes

There are many ways to repurpose boxes. Shoeboxes, cereal boxes, and tissue boxes can all be used to create simple Valentine’s Day boxes. Cover them with construction paper. Then, you can draw whatever designs you’d like! Adding stickers, drawings, and more can add to the appearance of the Valentine’s Day box. Once the box is covered with construction paper, you can use scissors or a box cutter to create an opening for valentines.

Monsters

A monster Valentine’s Day box is much easier than it sounds, especially with a tissue box. With the tissue box, place googly eyes above the opening. You can also fix googly eyes or construction paper eyes on top of pipe cleaners around the opening. You can recycle egg cartons to make eyes, as well. Use card stock to create sharp teeth, which you can place on the opening. Yarn can be used to create hair, which can help customize the box!

Unicorns

Wrap white paper over a box. Then, you can make ears, eyes, and a nose out of paper. Roll construction paper into a cone shape and affix it to the top of the box to form the unicorn’s horn! Yarn can also be used here to create a mane for the unicorn.

Last minute crafts can be stressful, but there is no reason to stress too much over your child’s Valentine’s Day box. Construction paper and boxes are really the only thing you need! Happy Valentine’s Day!

There have been countless studies centered on the benefits of preschool. Most of these studies have shown that preschool makes a significant positive impact on an individual’s life. According to these studies, children who attended a quality preschool program are more likely to attend college, make more money, and maintain longer relationships. These studies show many long-term benefits from attending preschool, but there are also many short-term benefits.

The brain has critical periods of learning throughout its development. Most experts agree that one of the brain’s most important stages of development is under the age of 5. Failure to take advantage of this stage can result in losing valuable opportunities for learning.

Socialization Skills

Preschool aids children in developing important socialization skills through their interaction with other children and their teachers. They learn how to cooperate with others and how to take turns. They also learn how to be respectful toward other people, including their parents, teachers, and peers. These socialization skills help them to learn how to form friendships and retain relationships.

Routine

Previously, we’ve written about the importance of routine for your child. Attending preschool regularly can help create a structured routine that is centered on learning. Not only will this help your child in general, but it will also help prepare them for kindergarten.

Stress Management

Preparation for kindergarten will help prevent a stressful transition. Furthermore, preschool will teach a child general stress management skills. It will enable them to develop coping mechanisms as well as skills that will aid in conflict resolution.

Problem Solving

Preschool teaches an array of problem solving skills. These skills can help a child learn to answer their own questions. It will also help them develop logical approaches to solving problems.

Preschool helps build a strong foundation for learning. These building blocks will allow children to have an easier transition to elementary education. To learn more about the many benefits of preschool, contact us at Corner Canyon Academy today!
